Sexual Health

The decision to be sexually active is a personal choice.

Access to medically accurate sexual health information is your right. 

Condoms are a great way to protect yourself against pregnancy, HIV, and other sexually transmitted infections. 

 

But they aren't fool-proof. 

Knowing your risk and getting tested at regular intervals are important parts of maintaining your sexual health.

 

If you think you are at an increased risk for HIV, be sure to consider PrEP for HIV prevention. 

Sexually Transmitted Infections

SYPHILIS

You can get syphilis by direct contact with a syphilis sore during vaginal, anal, or oral sex.

CHLAMYDIA

You can get chlamydia by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has chlamydia.

GONORRHEA

You can get gonorrhea by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has gonorrhea.

HPV

You can get HPV by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus.

HERPES

You can get genital herpes by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the disease.

TRICHOMONIASIS

The parasite passes from a person carrying it to an person who is not carrying it during sex. 

GONORRHEA

You can get gonorrhea by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has gonorrhea.

BACTERIAL
VAGINOSIS

Bacterial vaginosis is the most common vaginal infection in  cisgender women ages 15-44.

DISEASE

Pelvic inflammatory disease is an infection of a woman’s reproductive organs. It is a complication often caused by some STIs.

MYCOPLASMA​GENITALIUM

Mycoplasma Genitalium is a type of bacteria. You get it by sexual touching, sexual rubbing, or  having oral, vaginal, or anal sex with someone who has it.
